NIKEiD and MIADIDAS


Something that has been a new trend and Nike and Adidas have taken advantage off, are the customer design products. These are products that the customers can make from scratch, or even use one of the brand's designs and change it somehow, like giving it a different color, shape, and anything that you want to personalize. Right now, for Adidas and Nike, the biggest portion of this personalized products, are shoes and snickers. Looking at their web pages we can see how much they are promoting NIKEiD and MIADIDAS, which are the place where you can personalize your shoes to have look unique.

Looking deeper at what are the actual features that you can change, we can see how they give you different options. For example, MIADIDAS and NIKEiD give you the option to change the design, color, material, laces, personalize them with logos or phrases, and other features. They are still trying to differentiate from one another, for example, NIKEiD gives you the option to “add a name, race number or an inspirational message” (nike.com). While also Adidas tries to do the same thing by letting people chose the material and personalize the inside of the shoe or the sockliner. This features that they add in order for people to pick their brand over a different one, and is their way of adding value to the consumer. 

Something that is crucial and important for them, is the reviews that their customers leave them because this is how they can improve their products and built a relationship with the consumer that hopefully will become brand loyalty. Looking at the reviews, most of the comments are really positives and show how the fact that they can personalize the products makes them more valuable for them and that they are willing to pay more for this kind of products. 

The main reason why brands like Nike and Adidas create these types of products is because this adds value to their products. “adds value to its products by, for example, offering custom designs under its Nike ID brand that increase their fashionable appeal and enlisting popular celebrities such as Rafael Nadal to add their names to the designs” (Grewal). This is clearly a great example in which these brands are creating value to the customers because they are willing to pay more for unique products, but this also has to do with the fact that right now this is a trend for personalized products, and it is all over social media with celebrities wearing them, which clearly helps these brands promote NIKEiD and MIADIDAS. But also, the fact that this is helping Nike and Adidas create a relationship with the consumer is the best result from this, because they can create loyalty which is what they should be looking for since they are their most important customers.
