Marketing and social media in the best sportswear brands
Nike and Adidas are two brands that are known worldwide and
have a huge social media presence in different platforms like: Instagram,
Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. Almost everyone knows about this brands and what
they sell, this is due to their incredible marketing that is engaging with the
public. They are also known for having quality products and we can see how they
show this in their social media mainly with videos and images. Their visual
content is incredible and they make sure every video or image that they post in
their accounts in social media is showing what they want the consumer to see.
Now looking at each one of the brands separately we see some
differences. Looking at 4 of the biggest social media platforms (Instagram,
Facebook, Twitter and YouTube) we can see that Nike has more followers than
Adidas, especially in Instagram and Twitter. Nike has always been known for having
huge budgets for advertisements, and spending huge amounts of money making
videos for their products which go into their social media accounts. Adidas
has been keeping up with Nike for example having great athletes in their
ads promoting their products as well as Nike, but one differences is that
Adidas has also been using different kind of celebrities like Stormzy and Kanye
West, which are famous artists that help them with their campaigns, and has
been showing great results because they can target new customers with this strategy.
One of the most interesting things about the way Nike and
Adidas handle marketing is that they are not afraid of being creative and do
things that have not been done before. Another interesting strategy that Nike
and Adidas are using with the social media, is that they want to be connected
and interacting with the customers more. This means that the customers are
constantly looking at different contents in their different social media
accounts, one clear example of this was the strategy that Adidas used in the 2014
soccer world cup where they were constantly posting content and interacting
with the consumers showing interviews, news about what was happening in Brazil
and with the players. Which is a way that the brands make the customers feel
more connected and closer to the athletes and the brand and its products. This
is very important for companies like Nike and Adidas because they are creating
a customer base in which usually the customers are loyal to the brand.
The reason why Nike and Adidas are the biggest sportswear brands
is because they have great quality in their products, but also because they
have been innovative in the way they advertise and the way they manage their
social media accounts. Also Nike and Adidas have something similar which is
they have a clear strategy for their social media accounts. They have one
account that is for the brand as a whole, but they have different accounts that
are separated by sports like: soccer, basketball, football, and so on. This is
very important because they target different customers with each of the
accounts and helps them advertise the right customers or potential
customers.
